Assistant Airport Manager, Kent State University Airport

Job Description:

Basic Description: This position performs a variety of specialized operations and management tasks for the safe and efficient operations of the Kent State University Airport in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Reports to Airport Manager.

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

    • Assist the airport manager in developing budgets and business development, tenant relations, community engagement, and airfield operations programs.
    • Assist the airport manager in fulfilling the tasks and responsibilities of maintaining an airport.
    • Provide direct supervision to classified employees and student employees.
    • Coordinate the daily operations and business functions of the airport.
    • Coordinate airport facilities and services with the needs of Kent State University Flight Operations and serves as liaison between flight students and the University.
    • Coordinate and oversee the maintenance of airport grounds, buildings, and equipment.
    • Inspect airport buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure safety; determine repairs, replacement, or improvements required.
    • Resolve customer and community relations issues to ensure customer satisfaction; assists in planning and developing good customer/public relations.
    • Coordinate and monitor airport budget and expense accounts.
    • Research and compile reports; assist with the development of capital improvement plans; assist with the development and submission of grant applications; assist in oversight of grant-funded projects and expenditures to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.
    • Participate in planning departmental goals and in implementing procedure and policy changes; assist in the development of marketing plans.
    • Oversee the servicing of aircraft.
    • Sell and record purchases of supplies; maintains inventory of supplies; determines vendors and articles to sell.
    • Assist with special projects (e.g., Aviation Day, community events, etc.).
    • Perform related duties as assigned.

Line Service Tech /  Customer Service Rep, Part-Time, Sundays Required

Job Description:

SUMMARY: The Line Service Technician is a customer service and maintenance roll responsible for supporting all airport ground operations. Line Service Technicians have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, a strong safety mindset, a teamwork attitude, good decision-making skills, the ability to follow stated procedures and guidelines, flexibility in a dynamic work environment, and willingness to learn and to take direction. Your safety is important. Line Service Technicians work with fuels and other flammable and hazardous materials. As such, proper procedures must be followed. The airport is a high noise environment so use of proper protective equipment is required. Operating vehicles and moving aircraft in close proximity of people, buildings, and other aircraft requires extreme caution. Procedures must be followed for your personal safety as well as the safety of others and the protection of airport and customer property. 

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

•Fuel aircraft in accordance with industry standards and AV fuel quality control standards
•Marshal and tow aircraft
•Ensure aircraft are chocked, locked, and secure
•Provide aircraft lavatory and potable water service
•Load / unload baggage
•Assist pilots with aircraft pre- and post-flight services
•Top off fuel trucks and fill out proper fuel farm paperwork
•Operate ground support equipment (tugs, GPUs, forklift, snow plows, etc.)
•Customer service representative / front desk operations (answer phones, process transactions, provide directions, give correct change, daily opening and closing register procedures)
•Assist other departments as required including facility cleaning and other tasks as assigned
•Provide basic security to people and property
•Direct people, drivers, and flight crews on ramp area
•Other duties and tasks as required
