Akron-Canton Airport Receives an AIA Design Award

The Akron-Canton Airport's ticketing area expansion has received the American Institute of Architecture Akron Chapter Design Awards Honorable Mention for new construction. According to an October 17th article on Cleveland.com written by Ms. Megan Becka, the $2.7 million terminal expansion project was designed by North Canton-based Sol Harris/Day Architecture. The terminal project focuses on the ticketing area and features 1,800 square feet of circulation space, LED lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows.  The construction for the project is slated to begin in 2018.

"We are fortunate to have an award-winning, local design and architecture firm right here in our community,” said Rick McQueen, Akron-Canton Airport President and CEO. “The SōL Harris/Day team’s understanding of our travelers and the airport’s desire to enhance our passenger’s experience, helped create a new Customer-friendly space that we’re proud to have. Our partnership is a long-standing one that we look forward to continuing.”  Rick also serves on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Aviation Association.
