Instructor, Lecturer or Sr. Lecturer - Engineering Technologies - Aviation

Bowling Green State University

Primary Responsibilities: Teach and develop undergraduate level courses in aviation safety, airline management/operations, and flight ground school courses. Serve as Safety Coordinator for the Flight Technology and Operations (FTO) specialization and provide quality assurance of flight training performed by Bowling Green Flight Center (BGFC). Perform service to the department, college, and university as well as to the profession at a national level. Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in aviation or related field is required. FAA commercial single and multi-engine certificate and FAA flight instructor certificate for CFI, CFII, and MEI, and professional or educational experience in the aviation safety is required. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to teach and develop aviation courses at the undergraduate level, such as aviation safety, airline management/operations, and flight ground school courses. This can be demonstrated through a statement of teaching philosophy, summary of teaching/student evaluations, or related documents.

Airport Maintenance Supervisor

Ohio State University Airport

Description: The Airport Maintenance Supervisor acts as a working supervisor in support of airport operations and maintenance activities. A large portion of this position (55%) is dedicated to performing and overseeing airfield inspections and maintenance, building maintenance and construction, airport grounds maintenance and construction, and vehicle and equipment maintenance. A successful candidate in this role will have working knowledge of general skilled trades to complete, instruct and support staff on airfield maintenance needs.

This position will supervise a team of seven (7) Airport Operations Specialists, managing staff performance and development, and will review and approve time and leave. In addition, the Airport Maintenance Supervisor will assist with airport security and communications with neighboring operations and other University activities that take place at the airport. Remaining duties include administrative tasks and reporting, management of supply orders for requests and repairs, and performs special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Aviation or Engineering or related field, or graduate of a 2-year technical school and 2 years of experience, or a minimum of 4 years experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in airfield and facility maintenance; supervisory experience; valid Ohio Driver's License; must pass FAA required airport driver's training test within 60 days of employment.

Desired Qualifications: Working knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing and/or heavy equipment operation is highly desired; ability to communicate, motivate and instruct a team is highly desired; FAA Private Pilot Certificate; familiarity with Federal Air Regulations Parts 36, 77, 139, 150, and 150 series Advisory Circulars; AAAE Basic ASOS Training Certificate. Additional Information: This position is on emergency call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position requires the ability to work outdoors in all seasons/conditions, and may require night/weekend work, and the ability to come-in early and stay late, as needed.

Civil Engineer - Airports


Our Stantec Columbus, OH office is seeking a Civil Engineer with a background in airport engineering.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Client interactions.
  • Communication with FAA and ODOT representatives.
  • Airport design.
  • Coordinating bidding
  • Providing construction administration
  • Preparation of government applications and planning documents.
  • Attendance at evening meetings with clients.


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil engineering.
  • Prefer a candidate who is a registered Professional Engineer with 3+ years of airport design experience.
  • Prefer experience writing specifications.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word and Excel.
  • Possess strong communication skills and exhibit a willingness to work in a multi-discipline team atmosphere.
  • Availability and willingness to attend 3-4 evening meetings each month.
